digital polaroid cameras

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Listening to TWIP on my ttc commute into work today, I had photography on my mind.  Apart from still thinking about selling my Canon XTi (400D) and purchasing a Canon T1i (500D) to play with video, which is something that fascinates me, I saw a great picture appear right infront of me.

Of course I didn’t take the shot, but if I had, it would have been important to give a copy of the picture to the subject.  Which made me think about polaroid cameras, and how they were great for that kind of thing.  But they’re gone, and digital has become mainstream and we no longer have anything like that.

I suppose (if I had taken the shot), I could have written down my website address, so they can find it later, but that seems impersonal.  Without being able to print out the shot right then and there, it’s hard to get that instant gratification.  Or is it?

Almost everyone has a ‘gadget’.  Most of those gadgets can display photos, or receive photos via sms (mms?).  Maybe the polaroid of the future is a DSLR shooting pictures that you can MMS to someone’s handheld device.

Instant gratification, no?

(i’m still chewing on peter’s comment from the last post… )

blast radius is making waves

Being featured on apple.com is incredible exposure for Blast Radius and a guaranteed raise for Marcus Ericsson. I never really met him, but from what I see on flickr and my time at Blast, this guy is incredibly talented. Nice one Marcus!

See what people can do with Apple hardware? Is anyone listening out there? (inside joke.. blastee’s will appreciate it)

dell’s unusable website

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

It never really occurred to me until I read bbum’s what the dell? post about dell’s totally ridiculous website. It’s true. I can never really find anything, though I feel like I’m finding things.

It looks like they have recently re-engineered their search engine - it now returns somewhat useful results instead of nonsense. Though, if you search for POS, it’s still next to impossible to find their “small business POS” landing page that is filled with good and relevant information. Instead, you’re directed to many smaller nonsense pages with fancy images - which reinforces the feeling of finding something when I haven’t.

It also reminded me of how dell creates some pretty crazy hardware. I’d rather have an iMac.
